AYSO's Vision is to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

AYSO's Mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO's Six Philosophies:

  • Everyone Plays® - Our goal is for kids to play soccer - so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.
  • Balanced Teams - We require every region at the start of each season to set up teams as evenly balanced as possible. It's more fun when teams are of equal ability.
  • Positive Coaching - This builds a positive team spirit. We train and encourage our coaches to make the extra effort to understand and offer positive help to our players, rather than negative criticism.
  • Open Registration - Our programs are open to all children ages 4 - 18 who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only requirements for playing.
  • Good Sportsmanship - We create a positive environment based on mutual respect, rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude. All of our programs are designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.
  • Player Development - We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

Our Section proudly provides management training for its volunteers, and teaching and mentoring opportunities for its instructors.

We (all of us from the Region, Area, Section and National) deliver a quality youth soccer program by ensuring we have well trained volunteers.  The administrative (non-coach and non-referee) aspects of running such and organization requires as diligent an effort by our volunteers as coaching and refereeing.

This page (and its links) are to help you understand what administrative training is available and required, answer common management questions, provide guidance and information, and contact information to answer your questions.

First, I would like to introduce myself.  I am Robert Bierman, the Section 2 Management Administrator.  I have been with AYSO for 17 years and have held a number of positions at both the regional and area level.  I am a National Referee, an Advanced Coach, an Advanced Referee Instructor and an Advanced Management Instructor.  I am a father of 2, with one having graduated out of the program and the other now in U14.

My goals as your Section 2 Management Administrator are:
  • Have 100% of our volunteers Safe Haven Certified.
  • Have 100% with their proper Job Specific training.
  • Maintain and grow our Management Instructors.
  • Be an active resource for regions and areas to assist in their administrative needs by providing guidance and being responsive to questions.
If you are interested in becoming a new management instructor, in becoming an advanced management instructor, or in being a mentor to new instructors, we want you!

The training of regional board members not only help improve the program, reduces stress on the volunteers (because they are better prepared) but it also improves your regions Regional Assessment Program (RAP) score.  Below are the courses/positions (with links to job descriptions) and how it improves the RAP score.
